Day 2 brings us to ornaments with DAWN!!

Here are her projects! Dawn also "thought outside the box" and used her ornaments in all sorts of un-ornamenty fashion!

In the following three Dawn used the Holly as.. well... holly but also as bats and angel wings!

Here Dawn made a gorgeous window hanging ... on these ornaments she used alcohol ink!

And here she used the round ornament as a shaker piece, both on a card and a scrapbook page!

Check out the closeup of the shoes photo, which Dawn printed black and white and added a pop of color herself!!! She used a Qtip and one of her favorite stamp pads to give them the correct color!! Such a great "look at me" technique!!

The thing I love about Art Blanche... is that it's WHITE chipboard. Don't get me wrong, I love kraft as much as the next vintagy girl - but the clean crisp white board that Art Blanche uses to make their alterables is so wonderful to work with! It's very inspiring have an absolutely blank canvas to work with.

The octagon boxes I have to show you today come in a set of three that are all different sizes.

I started with the shortest, widest octagon and I decided to go very vintage inspired with it (be sure to keep an eye out for the other two in future weeks.. they're all going to be SO different!)

You've seen her Work.. now meet DAWN!

I'd like to take today to introduce Dawn - she's been supplying BSD with tons of fabulous projects for months, and we never really took the time for you to get to know her.. Here's what she had to say about herself:

"When I was asked to do this bio the first thing that came to mind is that I hate to talk about myself. I love to tell everyone about my family and friends, I like to share , I love to laugh and I love crafting of all sorts. Oh my gosh… guess what I realized… I am talking about myself. LOL. Yup… that’s right I love to laugh, I love crafting of all sorts and my family and friends are so very important to me. I am the mother of 4 beautiful children. My oldest is 19 and is serving in the US Army ( can you tell how very proud of him I am?!) I have a 7th grade son and an 8th grade son and a 6 year old daughter. I am so very proud of them all and scrapbooking helps me to document all those little somethings they said or did. My husband is my best friend, my biggest supporter and the absolute love of my life. . I went to college to be a veterinarian, married my high school sweetheart who was in the Army and my life changed forever. I am doing exactly what God intended for me at this moment.

I started crafting when I was 7 years old thanks to two grandmothers and a mom who knitted , sewed and crafted their fingers to the bone. I was heavily involved in all aspects of 4H and it just helped my madness for all things crafting grow. I sew, I scrapbook, I quilt, I computer craft with a laser machine, I take pictures, I glass etch, I make Christmas ornaments out of recyclables, I even do some woodworking. Wow… did you see all those I s?! This is getting kind of interesting. Hmm… what is my scrapbooking style… let me put it like this… whatever the pictures or supplies make me feel. I have no distinct style and tend to try a little of everything. If it feels right it usually ends up looking the way I want it to… yup fly by the seat of my pants! Yes I do have a paper stash, an embellishment stash, a sticker stash, a fabric stash… yes… my craft room is overwhelming. Sigh… but such is life. What other things are a part of my life…. Secret ( I love to sing) … in the car, at home, in church… it makes me feel happy. I love to write and have kept a journal since I was 10. I am always it seems trying to lose these extra pounds but am pretty comfy in my own skin. I believe in God. Did I already say I love to laugh? Oh yeah… I am ticklish. If you haven’t guessed it yet I am a silly sometimes ADD adult! What can I say… this is life and we should live it to the fullest every day. I am thrilled with this opportunity (Thanks by the way!) and look forward to where it pushes me. Okay lets get scrapbooking and have some fun."

"Hello to everyone! My name is Jenn Kennedy and I am so excited to be working with Big ScrapDeal! I am a single mom to a beautiful4 year old daughter who of course is my main focus in my scrapbooking. In addition to being a mom, I am anElementary School teacher. For the last9 years I have taught first grade. Inmy down time I am all about hockey (love my Pittsburgh Penguins) andscrapbooking.

I have been scrapbookingfor about 11 years now. In 1999 afriend gave me a scrapbook kit for Christmas thinking it would be a great wayto showcase all of the photos I have taken. I have been hooked ever since. My scrapbook space is fairly small, but very organized. I find peace in the space I scrap in. There is something so relaxing andgratifying about taking paper and embellishments and creating a layout.

Some of my favorite companies are DCWV,basic grey, MMEâ€™s, Imaginisce, and Prima. I would be lost without my bling, flowers, and Thickers. These 3 items are usually a staple in mywork. Introducing: Vicky!!

Here is Vicky's Bio:

"Hello! My name is Victoria Hrabe. I am so excited to be on the Big Scrap Deal Design Team; thank you Michelle and Heather! I am originally from Nebraska, my son and I moved to Kansas in 2002, when I married Alec. Alec didn’t know what scrapbooking was until he met me and now he knows all the ins and outs about it. As a matter of fact, he is a big enabler; always willing to help me add to my scrapbook supplies and convince me I need more. I have scrapbooked for about 22 years, since my son was just a baby. My son used to scrapbook with me and now his wife is a scrapper.

There are a few tools you will always see me with; Fiskars trimmer, Zig black pen, adhesive and a small pair of sharp scissors. I have decided I am a scrapbook hoarder; I love it all! Many times someone will say something is out of style and no one uses that anymore. But that doesn’t matter to me, I use old and new supplies; if I like it I use it. I love to alter things too. A few years ago, I even altered a SKOAL container.

I have not met a scrap supply item yet that I didn’t like. A few of my favorite lines are; Tim Holtz, Bazzill, Echo Park, and Imaginisce. I have a confession; sometimes I buy things and don’t use them for awhile. They just live in my scrapbook room, until I have time to get them out and work with them. They seem to be very happy among their new friends though. I do have a room dedicated to my obsession, I mean hobby.  My scrapbook room has become home to my collection of Mickey and Coke items. It is jam packed, but it’s my own little space! Some of the ways I store my scrapbook supplies are a library card file cabinet for embellishments, mini stamps, Cricut vinyl and inks, a pegboard that I hang scissors and embellishments on, metal cubes I use as paper shelves, bins that hold my chipboard and a basket on my desk that holds my adhesive, pens and supplies I use often. The dogs have a little bed made up in the corner of my room so they can watch every move I make. Since moving to Kansas, I have organized a lot of fundraisers. One of my favorites is a scrapbook crop. I had 6 attend the first one I held. I will have my 16th crop on March 12th and am expecting 32 attendees. It’s a lot of work, but I have met some great people at the crops and I love seeing what everyone is working on. "

Here is a little bit about her, by her:

"Hi! My name is Erika. I got married to my best friend in October 2009. We have a HUGE furbaby, a German Rottweiler named Gnarles. Love spending time outside, taking walks, watching the birds, playing bocce in the backyard. I've been scrapping/paper crafting for probably 6-8 years. I started out scrapbooking for a few years, took a break for a few years and now mostly do cards. I love being able to create a card personalized for the person. So much more personal than going to the store and buying one :) I FINALLY have a craft room in our new house. I definitely love that I have my own space where I can get crafty!! I'm slowly getting back in the swing of things and am having a blast learning all the new techniques and playing with the new tools! A few of my favorite products are Echo Park paper, Unity Stamps, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist & Glimmer Glam, Pink by Deign stamps & Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro! Hello Everyone.. It's finally time to start introducing our new Design Team Members!!! I'll be introducing them one at a time throughout the next few weeks... and first off we have Melissa!! Here is a bio she was kind enough to write up for us!

"Greetings! My name is Melissa Dehne and I am beyond excited that Heather and Michelle chose me to on the design team for Big Scrap Deal! Here is a little bit about me-- I am a still in my 30's teacher turned stay at home mom. I am married to a wonderful man that fully supports my hobby and passion. I have three sweet kids who have gotten used to the camera being attached to my face! About nine years ago I received my first scrapbook supplies as a gift. Although I created a few pages here and there, I got very involved in scrapbooking more recently. About two years ago it really became a passion of mine. I love having the opportunity to have a creative outlet that I love. In my world, creativity= happiness! Who would have known that paper, embellishments, buttons, etc. could bring so much joy!

I have found that my scrapbook room (also known as the kids' toy area) has quickly filled up! There are so many great deals to be had, especially at Big Scrap Deal, so it is easy to do. I have found that my scrapbook style kind of evolves depending upon what I am interested in at that moment. I have a weakness for patterned paper and have been hoarding it for too long! I love using different patterns on a page along with fun embellishments. I really adore most of the companies that make scrapbook supplies and I am loving the newer companies that I have been seeing as well. Some of my favorite lately have been Echo Park, My Mind's Eye, Crate Paper, Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker and My Little Shoebox. I have been really loving my border punches lately as well as the use of my Silhouette. Adding dimension to my layouts is something else that I have been playing around with.

While my scrap space isn't beautiful, it is definitely useful for me. I love having a pegboard that hangs right in front of me. I keep all of my adhesives and tools that I use often in the buckets/baskets that I have hanging from it. I am forever on the lookout for the perfect paper and embellishment storage. In the meantime, I have come up with a few things that work for for now but I am still developing that "organized crafter" gene! I think that I am the messiest crafter on the planet! I get so involved in the creative process that I don't take the time to put things away!

Here are 2 layouts by Dawn!

Student of the Week:

Dawn used the gorgeous Cosmo Cricket Double Deck Earth Love and The Boyfriend. She made scans of the newspaper clippings, and she says "yes, that is a real ruler" !! Way to go Dawn!

She also used some chipboard pieces from the Colorbok Lucky You Kit.

So Sweet:

This is from the Colorbok Ripe Berry Kit, including the ripe berry cherry paper and a gorgeous velvet trim!! She hand-cut a placket for journaling.

Using some shimmery fabric she made a yoyo for some cherries that fit so darling with this kit!! She punched out squares and hearts for some bling, and adorned with KnCo Sabrina adhesive rhinestones and KnCo Marmelade adhesive rhinestones. Awesome handmade embellishments!!

Altered Notebook

Here is an AMAZING notebook altered by Dawn for her little girl!

She started out with a composition notebook, and using fantastic papers and chipboard pieces from the Lucky You Kit by Colorbok (Retail $35.. BSD: $12) she adorned the outside. She also used some stamps and gorgeous ribbons she had lying around.

Stamps, ric-rac, sewing, and all those gorgeous tied ribbons.

Here are closeups of the fun chipboard, bright papers and clouds from the Lucky You kit. Dawn also used Bling by Marcella K/KnCO (Retail: $5.. BSD: $1.50).

And on the inside of the book she used stickers from the 7Gypsies Sticker Set (retail: $39.50.. BSD: $7) as fold over tabs to see where specific parts of the notebook were!

Well there's some good news, some bad news and some even better news in regards to the Design Team position...

The good news....we had 4 AMAZING gals submit their work...the bad news....we couldn't decide....The EVEN BETTER news...we would like to welcome not just one new member to the design team...but FOUR!!!!

Let's Welcome....Jennifer Kennedy, Melissa Dehne, Erika Seever, and Vicky Hrabe!!! You gals are soooo amazing and we are very very excited. Michelle and I looked over everyones submissions and there are things about all theses gals work that we really liked. Each new design team member has a different style and hopefully there will be a little bit of inspiration for everyone!!

These gals all did a great job and we will be sending them goodie bags to work their crafty magic on and then we will showcase each one in March. After that then we will feature 2 designers a month!!

Details about the Spot:

Product will be shipped out to you in the first week of every month.
You will have roughly three weeks (until the end of the month) to submit projects using all the products you were given. (Details for submission of projects will be emailed to the new member)
Products may include older items that need help moving, newer items needing exposure, or anywhere in between! Be prepared to use papers, stamps, inks, adhesives, embellishments.. anything and everything!
Projects submitted can be of the following; layouts (any size), cards, tags and or altered objects. Just be creative and showcase the product to the best of your ability! =)

We'll need your full name, address and blog site if you have one.
Please let us know of any other design teams you're already on. (sketch, products or otherwise)

8x8s Featuring Fancy Pants +

Here are a couple of 8x8 layouts:

Baby Shower:

I started with some gorgeous Fancy Pants paper from the 50 piece Grab Bag as the background and extra piece of green behind my photo, I then stitched down a large photo leaving the top unstitched to act as a pocket for some smaller photos.. This is a GREAT way to include TONS of photos without cluttering up a layout.

I used some things I just had laying around; EP sticker, random satin ribbon I dyed myself, black pen, bingo card, and a 7gypsies punch. I'm a total distress freak so I of course used the Distress Inks by TH, and I LOOOOOVE the Art Blanche chipboard letters! They're large, white and easy to make your own! I also have to tell you, these gals have such a fantastic deal on these EK Adhesive dispensers that I haven't used any other kind in MONTHS. lol.

Nesting:

I again used some of that awesome Fancy Pants paper, distress ink and I used a Cosmo Cricket Rubon.

Other products used: don juan cricut cartridge, corrugated cardboard, raffia, fiber, lace, vintage paper measuring tape, ball point pen, martha stewart butterfly punch, old book, nest image and swallow chipboard piece. And I'm seriously telling you.. check out the great deals they have on all of their adhesives (as well as EVERYTHING else they have for sale!)

Cosmo Cricket!!

@ BigScrapDeal.com we can't get enough of that Double Deck paper pack by Cosmo Cricket.. so here again are some GORGEOUS projects featuring the two paper lines included in the double deck; "Earth Love" and "The Boyfriend"

First is a 2 page layout by owner, Michelle - she started with 2 pieces of black card stock from the Kit of the Month - then she took pieces from both lines of the Double Deck and cut them into squares and placed on her paper adhering with her favorite glue. She used the papers and one of her favorite Cricut Cartridges to cut out some gorgeous birds, which she adorned with blingy adhesives rhinestones from K&CO.

And then HERE is a banner I made for my soon to be lil guy! These colors are so vintage and fun together!! I used the same Cardstock from the Club of the Month by Bazzill - and the double deck for the gorgeous colors and patterns:

The more I use this paper the more I love it! I was unsure at first but pull the sheets out and mix and match, no matter how you put them together they go!!!"

She started with a piece of chocolate cardstock from the Kit of the Month, used that Double Deck, and embellished with a few things including Alpha Mishmash by Crate Paper, and a fold over tab from the 7gypsies Sticker Book Set.

Pull that cute little 7 gypsies tab and the layout folds down to reveal a bunch more info and some gorgeous photos!!!

Here are 2 layouts that owner Heather did!

Sammy's First Halloween:

Heather started with the Cardstock of the Month Kit, a great textured piece of Bazzil Cardstock, then she used the Black Soot distress ink pad by Tim Holtz around the edges for a fantastic Halloweeny look. From there she picked out a super cute photo of her now 5 year old son Sammy and pulled out her Happy Halloween collection pack by Echo Park. She used a handful of eyelets, some gorgeous black tulle and ran around the edges of the patterned paper with distress inks - VIOLA!!

Le Reve:

Heather just got back from a weekend in Vegas with her husband and another couple friend; and to remember the fun did this AMAZING layout! She started again with the Cardstock Kit, and Black Soot from the distress inks - Both a great base for a fantastic project. She then used some great souvenirs from the weekend and the gorgeous set of Ruffled Peonies from Petaloo. They do have a gold center, but she had some gigantic black bling laying around and it was perfect!

So I'm going to start off the Fall Theme Layout challenge on facebook!

I scraplifted this layout from a gal who posted on the Echo Park paper company's facebook and gave it a couple of my own twists:

I started with a piece of Bazzil Cardstock from the Cardstock kit of the month and used Distress Inks to ink the edge and crinkles of the paper. I picked one of my favorite photos of Chamos and I at the park playing in the leaves, and made a frame for it with the Fancy Pants 50 Piece paper pack which also made the leaves of the tree and the blue sky background. I cut the leaves using the Don Juan cricut cartridge and made the tree truck out of corrugated cardboard. I used the Art Blanche Tahoma letters for my title and adhered everything with the Zig glue pen and EK Success Permanent Adhesive roller.

=) Now let's see YOUR fall layouts!

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co:

While Heather was @ Scrapfest she ate at Bubba Gump with the other girls - She started with a sheet of paper from the restaurant and picked a huge photo of her enjoying all those goodies. She cut out her title from Bazzil cardstock supplied by the Cardstock of the Month Ki t, and adorned with a giant Petaloo Flower.

On both the back sheet and the letters Heather used Distress Ink by Tim Holtz, and then sprayed them with Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels. If you haven't seen how Distress Ink reacts to water, you should definitely try it out!!! She also glimmer misted the petaloo flower.

She attached everything but the flower with EK Success Herma double sided tape, and used Glue Dots for the petaloo flower, perfect for the centers and no mess!

First I'd like to share this layout with you that owner Michelle did!!

She did a 2 page layout starting with a patterned paper, found some of her favorite photos of the girls shopping at scrapfest! and gave them gorgeous green borders from the Bazzil Cardstock Kit of the Month! -

then she grabbed some of the Petaloo Flowers including the Large Green Daisy and the Wild Daisy Green Flowers in a set of four.

Also Right now on the face book fan page we have 2 contests going on!!

1) Is a fall themed layout with red, green, yellow and orange - use as little or as much as you like, just be to sure to incorporate each color! any size you'd like. Just post it to the Facebook Fan Page wall so everyone gets a chance to see!

2) We've also started the referral contest up again! The person with the most referrals by the 15th gets a goodie bag - so be sure your friends tell us who sent them!

Thank You and Fly Away Cards by DeeDee

I wanted to share a couple of cards I made using some of my favorites from the store!!

First off I needed a thank you card, I started with a kraft base and used some KnCompany paper.. I embellished with a Cosmo Cricket paper pack that is currently sold out, but my favorite part of this card is the giant scripty T that comes from the Art Blanche Script Chipboard Set - There's also a swirl flower and some tulle, a Martha Stewart half pearl and some distress ink.

This next card was for a secret sister card swap - I used a kraft base again.. but picked out a gorgeous green paper from the Crate Paper Lemongrass Kit (whole kit for only $6.99!!!) and some other random patterned paper I had. I used a butterfly from Angel Company, some distressing ink and distressing powder, and a stamp from Chatter Box Botanico Set. I finished off with a little raffia!

For adhering both cards I two of my favorite products are straight from BSD - the EK Success Permanent Adhesive Dispenser and the EK Success 2Way Glue Pen!!

Here is some work by Designer: Dawn!! Super fun and cute and and and just look for yourself!!

Art Journal:

Dawn says her son does TONS of drawing and she thought this would be the perfect way to preserve it. She started with the 12x12 Composition book by Art Blanche(3 sizes offered of a great sturdy chipboard start) and then added papers, brads, letters, stamps etc. etc!!

Baby Journal Irish Pages:

This is such a fantastic gift idea.. Dawn's sister had twins, a boy and a girl, and she wanted to send over a couple of cute journals that her sister could just add photos into.. Here are 2 of my favorite pages for the wee ones. She started with the Cardstock of the Month Kit(all Bazzil all the time!!) Added a gorgeous Irish themed paper as an accent, and then she used the Alpha Mishmash Rubons from CratePaper(a gorgeous brown of random alphas) to title her page! Dawn says "very versatile and can be used almost anywhere... don't have to be specific on placement because the differences in size and design are very forgiving and kind of shabby chic feel."

If it's not in the scrapbook it didn't happen....

Heather started with 2 pieces of black bazzil cardstock from the Cardstock Of the Month Kit - then she outlined a scallop edge with a white pen. She selected tons of favorite photos and cut them different sized circles for her photo collage. She placed in some super cute felt flower brads by K&Company(78% off retail!!!), and cut and placed letters using her cricut and the street sign cartridge. As a finishing touch she outlined everything in a white stitch or dotted line!!

For this one she started with a couple of pink sheets from the Cardstock of the Month Kit(I'm tellin' you - at the price these girls are offering it's only 42 cents for each piece of paper(plus shipping), and you just wait for it to arrive!), cut out papers from K&Company Kazoo Pad(this pad includes foiled and glittered papers, die cuts and stickers!) and finished off with cut pieces on her cricut from the Alphalicious and George cartridges!

As promised I am definitely posting more often! Thank you for the suggestions and comments so far, all ideas and info are run past the owners @ BSD and I'll be sure to get you all informed and up to date ASAP!

Here is some work by Dawn using the EK Success Pep Rally Alphabet Set (it's perfect for all your school and sports events!) as well as the Cardstock of the Month Kit (everyone needs extra cardstock and this is the perfect way to get it!) put together by the girls. Dawn has done 2 2page layouts about football, and they turned out great with Go Team stamping, colored cardstock, faux football lacing and TONS of gorgeous photos!

We've had questions about the design team on the blog for BigScrapDeal.com - and here's the info: Four current members include the two owners Heather and Michelle, myself (DeeDee) and Dawn - we will be adding a section to the sidebar for everyone to SEE the designers... as well as offering challenges and contests in the future to EXPAND our design team! So please keep an eye out here for that!

I'd also like to mention that ALL contests and challenges will be posted ON the blog - and your entries will be submitted ON the blog - so be sure to follow us here on the blog =)

We know things have been a little slow via facebook page and blog updates - so we're changing that! We'll be updating more, networking more, sharing more information, and having incentives(via contests) for those of you who follow regularly!

What we'd like right now is for those of you who follow us to SHARE us with your friends! The more followers we have the more contests we can hold!

Whoever gets the MOST people to follow will get a prize - so be sure that your scrappy crafty friends click follow on both our facebook fan page and our blog! (most of our contests will be held HERE on the blog in the future!) They should also leave a comment with ideas they have for the blog as well as mentioning YOUR name so we can give YOU the credit!

ColorBok Ripe Berry Kit

Here's a super cute scrapbook page from our Design Team member Dawn!! So cute!!

Page 2 is from the same line...however, Dawn used some of the Bazzill cardstock from our Cardstock of the Month club as the base!! What a great page!!

This Ripe Berry kit is an AMAZING deal!! And so versatile!! Thanks Dawn for the fun layouts!

ColorBok Sweet Life

Michelle and I got together one afternoon and came up with this simple and super cute Cupcake Album using the ColorBok Sweet Life kit! This kit comes with large die-cut shapes so we started out by tracing the cupcake onto 12x12 sheets of chipboard and cutting them out we did this 5 times.

We adhered the Large Cupcake diecut onto the front cover of the album.

We covered the rest of the cupcakes with the 12x12 patterned paper and 12x12 Bazzill Cardstock. What a fun, cute and easy project!! Enjoy!!
